You don't need the unicode attribute, so change it to id. When you try installing with font book it warns you of a serious error with the font.

You can access the activated fonts in the Active fonts panel inside Creative. Alternatively, you can click the Install Font button to install the font to the default location specified in Font Book > Preferences. You can click to select one font, Control-click to select several fonts, or Shift-click to select a contiguous group of fonts. Navigate to the folder that contains the fonts you want to install. Then select the toggle to activate (or deactivate) a font family, individual font weights, or styles. In the Fonts window, Right Click in the list of fonts and choose Install New Font. When you find a font you like, select View Family to view its family page. They key is to get the structure of the SVG file to match what Illustrator is expecting. Double click the folder 'Library' and then the folder 'Fonts'. Use the filters on the left sidebar to narrow the results. If the font is Gray, you can simply select the font and then check the box at the top of the column to activate the font.

You can simply check this by opening FontBook and see if the font is shown in Black or Gray.

I think I'm getting close to an answer (quack quack), but it's pretty ugly so far. Once added in Fontbook they should be active by default.
